My Story

Hi, I'm April. My love for children and the environment is woven into a beautiful life teaching others how to live more sustainably and to develop a deep love and connection to nature.

Hi, I’m April!

My love for people and the environment is woven into a beautiful life teaching others how to live more sustainably and to develop a deep love and connection to nature.

My journey to zero waste started when I became very ill with SIBO and endometriosis. I was on the search for a natural treatment and cure for my conditions after being diagnosed.

Through researching zero waste and connecting with people in healthcare and environmentalism, I started to see that what I eat and use in my home affects my health. I started reducing plastics and metal from my home to lessen the chemicals, endocrine disruptors and heavy metals in my food and environment, which inspired me to continue making my home and school healthier and more environmentally-friendly.

As I was living zero waste, I adapted the lifestyle to what I call Closed-Loop Zero Waste. It is a lifestyle that encourages living in alignment with nature and reducing environmental contamination by being guided by the 7 R’s: Refuse, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, Recycle, and Rot. (Start here to learn more!) Each Closed-Loop Zero Waste change I made has been small, but after a few years, I look at my life now and see it has transformed dramatically.

I hope to support you through your journey with this blog, by giving you environmentally-friendly zero waste resources for your home and classroom. Transforming my life and my nature-based preschool to Closed-Loop Zero Waste is a slow and ever-evolving process, and I’m excited to share my journey with all of you!

Welcome to my zero waste story. My love for children and the environment is woven into a beautiful life teaching others how to live more sustainably and to develop a deep love and connection to nature.
